It's race against time as the EFA deadline nears

With only nine years to 2015, when the target of Education For All (EFA)
should have been met, indications are that many countries will not realise
the set goals. While there is evidence that laudable achievements have been
made in various areas, by and large, the majority of countries are missing
out in the targets.
The first target of achieving gender parity in primary and secondary
education by 2005 has been missed by 94 countries out of 149 which presented
their data to the EFA Global Monitoring Report 2006 . Some 86 countries have
little chance of achieving that target even in 2015, meaning they need a lot
more time to catch up.
