received a plastic water tank, containing 10,000 litres of water from
UNICEF.

Why private schools perform better than those under UPE
ONCE upon a time, the top performers in the Primary Leaving Examinations
(PLE) came from top government schools like Kitante , Buganda Road, Nakasero
and Shimoni. But with the start of UPE in 1997, the guns seem to have
changed hands.

Kaberamaido launches school feeding programme
A large gathering of pupils cheered and clapped. Life at school, perhaps,
would not be the same thereafter. Feed the Children Uganda (FTCU) with
support from Feed the Children UK on April 7, launched a school-feeding
project in Katakwi County , Kaberamaido district.

Graduate teachers for direct employment
The government has made arrangement for all graduate teachers to be directly
employed immediately after graduation to offset shortage of qualified
personnel in public schools.

Children in remote localities of Benishsngul have access to formal education
Children living in remote and border rural localities of the Benishangul
Gumuz State have access to formal education due to on-going efforts geared
toward expansion of education in the region, the States Education Bureau
said.

UK to give Sh370m Aids drugs
More than 60,000 HIV infected people yesterday received a major boost after
Britain announced it will provide life-prolonging drugs worth millions of
shillings.

Frw7m for Aids associations
NORTHEN PROVINCE: People living with HIV/Aids (PLWA's) in Musanze District
