University education: Loan scheme is the way to go
THOUSANDS of students admitted to universities fail to report or drop out in
the middle of the programmes because of their inability to pay fees. At both
Makerere and Kyambogo universities, at least a third of the admitted
students fail to show up.

Makerere to build ICT centre for Africa
MAKERERE University Faculty of Computing and Information Technology has won
an Africa Union (AU) bid to set up an Information and Communication
Technology (ICT) institution in eastern and central Africa.

Lira, Dokolo get 16 classrooms

The Addis Ababa University (AAU) yesterday graduated post-graduate 1,319

Ethiopia: Bureau to Raise Primary Education Enrolment
The Gambella State Education Bureau said it has designed a five-year
programme which would help raise the primary education enrolment in the

Today HIV/AIDS in the press

20 picked to distribute ARVs

Twenty health centres, including private dispensaries, will start
distributing free Anti-Retro Viral drugs for people living with HIV/AIDS
from October this year.
