Uganda

FAWE, Mvule Trust sponsor 260 girls
FORUM for African Women Educationists (FAWE)- Uganda and Mvule Trust, have
sponsored 205 girls for A' level and 55 in O' level. The girls sponsored for
A' Level, are from the districts of Nebbi, Arua, Yumbe, Moyo, Adjumani,
Amuria, Katakwi and Kaberamaido, the forum said in a statement last week.

St Peter's College Tororo gets new lab
ST Peters College Tororo has got a new classroom block and science
laboratory through funds raised by the Old Boys and the Mill Hill
missionaries. The commissioning of the building also marked the reunion and
celebrations of St. Peter's Day.

International book fair for September
THE NATIONAL Book Trust of Uganda (NABOTU) is set to hold its 12th Uganda
International Book Fair in September at Garden City. The fair, to run from
September 19 to 22, will be part of the activities to mark the 15th National
Book Week Festival which will be celebrated countrywide in different
libraries, bookshops and schools.

Uganda

IDPs test for HIV/AIDS
THOUSANDS of internally displaced persons (IDPs) living in camps and in Gulu
town turned up for an open-air voluntary counselling and testing as part of
the activities to mark the World Population Day.
