Uganda

25 schools get pianos
SOROTI-The African Medical Research Foundation has donated 200 thumb pianos
to 25 primary schools in Soroti Municipality . According to Nicodemus
Tumukwasibwe, the donation would boost the revival of music in the schools.

Schools get sh10m for writing proposals
TWELVE out of the 63 secondary schools that participated in the 'Kids
Helping Kids (KHK) in Ugandan Schools' projects have received $6,000, (about
sh10m) to carry out community activities within their school environments.

Test for HIV, soldiers urged
GULU-UPDF soldiers have been urged to establish their sero statuses to
enable them plan for the future. The army's 4th Division operation and
training officer, Col. Sam Kiwanuka, explained that it is good for someone
to know his sero status so as to get HIV/AIDS treatment early.

Tanzania

Rwanda to override copyrights on ARVs
Rwanda will become the first government to use global trade rules to
override pharmaceutical patents and import generic drugs. The country
expects to buy 260,000 packs during the next two years of TriAvir, a
fixed-dose combination of the widely used anti-AIDS drugs lamivudine,
zidovudine and nevirapine.
