34 schools get Islamic books
A TOTAL of 34 schools in Makindye Division in Kampala have received Islamic
religious literature from Charity International in a move to promote Islam
in the country.

KIU medical school accredited
KAMPALA International University (KIU) medical school has been accredited,
ending three years of suspense. The medical regulatory bodies in Uganda ,
Kenya and Tanzania unanimously allowed the university to teach and graduate
its medical students.

A second life for people with disabilities
FLAVIA Nantalo is deaf. Because of her handicap, she had found it hard to
enroll for computer studies in the same institution with able people.
Through the National Union of Women with Disabilities of Uganda (NUWODU),
Nantalo, with nine others with disabilities, enrolled for a three-month
course at Second Life Uganda Limited, a computer training centre in Lugogo.

Lira schools reopen as hope for peace increases
THE classrooms of Coorom Primary School in Barlonyo are again filled with
the laughter of children. The school was closed in 2003 when rebel fighting
in the area escalated, but it reopened last August amidst promise of renewed
peace in northern Uganda . This is the situation in many other areas in the
north.
