Over 900 students register at Mutesa I Royal University

Uganda
1.2 million adults get free education
OVER 1.2 million adults have so far benefited from Functional Adult Literacy
(FAL) programmes conducted by the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social
Development. Of these, 76% were female and 24% male. The programme offers
free education to people aged 15 years and above.

Mityana gets scholastic materials
Greek friends of Bukuya primary school in Mityana district have given the
school scholastic materials worth sh5m. Handing over the items which
included text books and chairs, Papachristou Fotini, the team leader, said
the donation was in line with the Government's goal of boosting primary
education.

Sh400m HIV plan for EAC launched
A new programme has been launched to help in fighting HIV/Aids among groups
along the Lake Victoria Basin. It is a joint initiative by the East African
Community, the Lake Victoria Basin Commission and the African Medical and
Research Foundation.

Govt advised on HIV/AIDS
TORORO-The Government has been asked to include people living with HIV/AIDS
in its poverty eradication programmes. Speaking during the annual general
meeting at the TASO Tororo Centre on Saturday, the eastern regional manager
of The AIDS Support Organisation (TASO), David Wakoko, said: "When a patient
starts taking anti-retroviral treatment, feeding becomes a major concern for
they need to keep strong.

Jinja AIDS centre gets testing unit
THE Aids Information Centre in Jinja has acquired a new HIV/AIDS testing
machine. The digitalised and computerised machine will be used to carry out
