MUK Mass Com gets UNESCO rating
MAKERERE University's Department of Mass Communication has been ranked among
the 12 top "centres of excellence" for journalism and communication training
in Africa. This is in a study by the United Nations Educational, Scientific
and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).

Lugazi University promises unique programmes 
A JOURNEY of a thousand miles, they say, begins with one step. Transformed
from a secondary school, Lugazi University opened its doors to students over
the weekend. Located 42km on the Kampala-Jinja highway, many wonder why the
university was started away from the city centre, where most universities
are concentrated.

Sh1.5 b donation for Aids
More than two million Kenyans have been tested twice for HIV. Health
minister, Mrs Charity Ngilu, also disclosed that 156,000 patients, including
10,000 children, are under on antiretroviral therapy.
