Rwanda
Mutsindashyaka presides over biggest graduation
HUYE – Over 3000 students received degrees in different disciplines at the
National University of Rwanda (NUR) in the biggest ever graduation ceremony
in the history of the 44-year Institution and in the Country as a whole. The
graduation ceremony also saw the award of an honorary doctorate to former
United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Sadako Ogata, for her
distinguished role as a diplomat and scholar. Announcing the award of the
Doctorate, the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the National
University of Rwanda, Dr Théogène Rutagwenda, said that Ogata had shown
exemplary conduct in her endeavours to help people in need.

Govt launches co-teaching
THE Ministry of Education and Sports has launched a co-teaching model to
counter the high teacher-pupil ratio in primary schools.
“The system, if implemented well, can be an awesome tool to connect with
those sometimes hard-to-reach pupils in classrooms,” said Remigius Baale,
the coordinator of the thematic curriculum, recently.

Primary headteachers to be shuffled
LUWEERO District administration will shuffle primary school headteachers,
the Cao, Mr Nelson Kirenda has said.
The shuffle is in line with recommendations from the recently concluded

University for Kasese
KASESE-The Obusinga bwa Rwenzururu (the Bakonzo and Bamba cultural
institution) is to set up a university in the kingdom. The resolution was
reached at during a recent dinner hosted by Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere
at his palace. A committee, headed by Enock Muhindo, was set up to
fast-track the project.

100 students graduate
The International Institute of Business and Media Studies has awarded
diplomas and certificates to over 100 students who completed courses in
various disciplines. At the institute’s 9th graduation ceremony recently, 54
females and 46 males were passed out, with 52 getting diplomas. The
director, Ezekiel Luggya, advised graduands to work for excellence in their
fields.
