Fee-free Education
The Ministry of Education is working to ensure attainment of The Government

Koome island gets first classroom block
STUDYING at Myende landing site in Koome sub-county, Mukono district was,
until recently, a big joke. Started in 2003, Myende Community School is the
only school in the entire Buyanja parish.

Americans study Luganda at Makerere
FOURTEEN American students from the Northwestern University of Chicago are
studying Luganda as one of the interdisciplinary courses for the 10 weeks
they will spend in Uganda. Other courses are Public Health, contemporary
issues in Uganda, Music Dance and Drama (MDD).

IN Senior Five, Evelyn Namono is doing History, Economics and Geography but
she still clings to her dream of becoming a doctor. Sarah Nakitto, also an
S.5 student doing Physics, Economics and Mathe-matics, says though she was
told to do Physics, Economics and Mathematics, her passion still lies in
becoming a doctor.

MP urges on prosperity
BUSHENYI - Integrate the Prosperity for All programme into primary schools,

Uganda

Help HIV-positive school children
HIV-POSITIVE students need special attention. Research shows that 12,000
children in Gulu and Amuru districts are HIV-positive, a very worrying
trend. One, they face high chances of infection from older people who offer
them trivial gifts.
