AGFUND Organizations supports children with special learning needs in
Eritrea
Arab Gulf Programme for United Nations Development Organizations commonly
known as AGFUND has granted funds to UNESCO for a new initiative in Eritrea
for children with special learning needs. Eritrean teachers will receive
training on special education including use of interactive pedagogy for
delivering effective learning opportunities. Schools will become more
friendly and conducive to special needs children.

ANCEFA and Daraja Civic Initiatives Forum look at post-election crisis on
education in Kenya
Africa Network Campaign on Education for all (ANCEFA) Eastern and Southern
Africa Regional and Daraja Civic Initiative Forum hosted a symposium for
civil society organizations, government ministries and institutions,
development partners and the media to look at the effects of the
post-election crisis on education in Kenya and the free secondary education.
The symposium took place at the Kenya Institute of Education in Nairobi on
20 February 2008.

Rwanda
A-level results out
KIGALI - SENIOR six exam results for 2007 were released yesterday indicating
a slight decline in the performance of candidates. The results released by
the Rwanda National Examinations Council (RNEC) indicated this year's
performance declined from an average 74 per cent in 2006 to 71 per cent.

School receives computers from UK
Groupe Scolaire APRED Ndeera, a secondary school in Gasabo district, has
received $800 (Frw435,000) from Gordano School of the United Kingdom.

Uganda
Sh120b to renovate 46 schools
THE Ministry of Education has received a $70m (about sh120b) grant from the
African Development Bank to renovate government-aided secondary schools
which had not been repaired for over 30 years.

Kenyan refugees enroll in school
OVER 400 Kenyan refugee children have registered for primary and early
childhood education at Mulanda transit centre. The pupils are studying
according to the Kenyan education curriculum.

Examination results: Best school praises former students
RWAMAGANA - Screams of joy rocked Ecole des Science Infirmieries (ESI)
Rwamagana in Rwamagana District, Eastern Province, when the school's best
